Being in one of the world's best wine regions has many benefits, one is access to wonderful wine barrels. So for this beer, we brewed a crisp Blonde ale and stored it in ex-Barossa Shiraz wine barrels. The wild yeast and the character from the wine do amazing things. Tartness from the wild yeast mingles with aroma of peach, apricot, and a hint of sweet oak, makes this an interesting but easy drinking sour. We decided to send out a test blend straight from the barrel to be judged at the world's largest annual beer awards. We only expected feedback but were happily surprised it got a Silver medal.
