On New Year’s Eve we’re going to be drawing the roller door down on our Artarmon store for the last time as we prepare to move to our new warehouse location. We’ve seen really strong growth online over the last few years which has driven us to seek out a bigger warehouse …. the downside is due to site and licensing restrictions we’re not able to take the store with us…. We’re not writing off the possibility of future store(s), but that is a conversation for a later date…

To those who have been to our store over it’s past 11 years of operation we owe you a huge thanks. Beer Cartel would not exist without you. While we started our business online back in 2009, those were very quiet days for ecommerce and if we didn’t have the store we wouldn’t be where we are today.

We watched our hidden store blossom from being visited by 1 or 2 customers on the weekend (often found from a trip to Victoria’s Basement) to getting busier and busier as our range and awareness of the business grew. We’ve enjoyed the conversations and laughs we’ve shared and loved taking people further down the rabbit hole into the world of craft beer.

We’ve seen huge changes over the time of operating our store, from the change from bottles to cans, the growth and then demise of growlers, the focus on beers from the USA and abroad, to the thriving craft beer industry (and community) we now see in Australia. It’s been an amazing ride and hopefully we’ve been able to contribute to the burgeoning craft beer scene in Sydney.

We’re definitely not going away, we are 100% focused on making Beer Cartel the best damn beer store it can be online and will be looking at ways we can bring the offline side of the business online… watch this space!
