Virtuoso is a word that isn't often used in the brewing industry, but when it's right, it's right.
Let's face it, there aren't too many people who look at a jar of Tajín Clásico Seasoning and a pot of red gum-smoked salt and think they belong in a beer, let alone actually brew that beer (and a bloody good beer at that). But that's our Kenny for you. Kenny has always marched to the beat of his own drum and isn't afraid to take a chance on something new, so when he told us he had an idea for a Rare Breed, we knew we were in for something a bit different.
This beer is a sweet, sour and salty delight. The Tajín seasoning and smoked salt impart an intriguing piquancy to the base gose, without compromising the refreshing qualities of a classic gose. To add an extra layer of flavour to the beer, it was then aged for three months in reposado tequila barrels we had shipped over from Mexico. The barrel-ageing adds a delicate earthiness from the tequila, keeping the palate interesting but not challenging.
To sum it up, this is the beer you want in your fridge this summer. It smells like a citrusy sea breeze, and tastes like a Margarita and Paloma in one glass.
