The flavour of Timmermans Oude Kriek, refermented in the bottle, is without comparison. The cherries from which it derives its taste and colour traditionally come from Schaerbeek. Slightly acidic and with a wonderful bouquet, this natural and hence unpredictable brew requires careful handling throughout its long maturation process. Created from a blend of old and young lambic, Timmermans Oude Kriek keeps for 12 years.
The marriage of genuine lambic to the cherry – originally the Schaerbeek cherry – always has surprising results, particularly as a spontaneously fermented young lambic is added to the old lambic in the proportion of one to three. This union, in which natural bitterness dominates, will delight genuine connoisseurs of spontaneously fermented beer and will surprise fruit beer novices.
