Thick, rich and excessively decadent, this beer aims to bring back childhood memories.

Dessert in a bottle.
Sensational. Super chocolate mud cake indeed. Bitterness of cacao and pecan just hinted but not overly powerful. Moreish with a strong abv of 11% but it is well hidden behind the layers of chocolate and nuts and malts.

Quality technical brewing and an awesome concept
I bought this with another couple of more expensive beers. Looks dark and not much head, not too carbonated. Smells sort of like a mud cake, like chocolate and nutty (more hazelnut than pecan). Not really powerful in the smell you have to breathe deep. For the first taste I get nuttiness, caramel and chocolate, finishes with toast and roast. It's good, deep and complex in flavour. Not very watery, packed full of ingredients, you can tell the technique is really well done. Pretty damn good beer but I am not in love with it, my expectations were really really high though. Alcoholic but covered up by the nuts, chocolate and roastiness. I decide I am going to drink it slow and try it in different time increments as it warms up.
My biggest gripe with this beer is that to me it tastes more hazelnutty than pecan to me which bugs me. Unless... the hazelnutty beers I have had before actually have pecans in them. How will we ever know? As it warms up the hazelnut comes up more. It's not my favourite flavour but it's ok. Im really thinking hard here. It's quality in terms of how it is brewed but I am thinking I might prefer a quality pale ale to this. Maybe it has to do with it warming up into the summer months. However I get the sweet hazelnut so I'm thinking it hasn't affected me too much. I would have preferred if this was more chocolate than nutty but look at the name of the beer what more could I have asked for? Doesn't hit the high distinction rating but it's pretty good. I am dissecting the beer very closely and my high expectations are a curse.
